Arm liposuction is a form of liposuction that is generally performed in conjunction with an arm lift procedure, also known as brachioplasty. It aims at correcting sagging arms and tightens the skin of the arms by removing unwanted excess fat and tissue in order to give patients a more youthful appearance.
The elasticity of our skin reduces with age and significant weight loss, leading to an excess of skin and tissues under the skin, particularly on the inner arms and the inner thighs. The arm liposuction procedure removes loose skin and excess fat deposits from the upper arm. Upper arm liposuction involves the surgeon making a small incision in the most inconspicuous place possible so as to leave the patient with minimal scarring.
The Anaesthetic
As with most types of cosmetic surgery, arm liposuction and lifts are performed under general anaesthetic, however, in cases where less extensive work is needed a local anaesthetic may be better suited. The surgery typically lasts between one and two hours and some cases can be treated as a day case basis. The procedure begins with the surgeon mapping lines on the inside of the patients arm. Once the makers have been made, and the patient has been anaesthetised, the surgeon will make incisions into the arm. A cannula, a small hollow tube, is then inserted in order to break up the fatty cells for removal.
Brachioplasty
Since flabby upper-arm folds tend to be composed of tissue and skin rather than just fat, new liposuction alternatives (like laser liposuction), with their unique ability to both dissolve fat and tighten skin, work beautifully. More over, with new techniques such as tumescent liposuction, trauma to the skin is minimised, meaning that scarring and swelling are minimal as well.
Your surgeon will explain to you whether or not you may be a good candidate for arm liposuction during your consultation. Overall health and weight are two key issues that must be addressed before undergoing surgery. Both directly figure in the healing process and recovery time. Healthy, normal weight people will heal and recover in much less time.
Procedure Recovery
In most cases, patients report mild pain for a few days following the procedure, which can be controlled with pain medication. Your surgeon will be in a better position to advise you about liposuction aftercare during your consultation.
Costs & 0% Finance Options
Both clinics and third party companies can offer loans to finance upper arm liposuction surgery. 10 to 12 month "buy now pay later" schemes are usually available with loans ranging in the region of £500 - £1000 to anywhere up to £4000 to cover the cost of the procedure.
